Commodore Yadav was the squadron Commander of a division of ships which formed part of the Task group of the Western Fleet ordered to carry out an offensive sweep on the enemy coast of Karachi on the night of December 4/5, 1971. In this operation, Commodore Babru Bhan Yadav displayed conspicuous gallantry and leadership, and won the first Mahavir Chakra for the Indian Navy.

Naib Subedar Bana Singh volunteered to be a member of task force constituted in June 1987 to clear an intrusion by an adversary in the Siachen Glacier at an altitude of 21,000 feet. The post was virtually an impregnable fortress. Bana Singh led his men through an extremely hazardous route. Moving from trench to trench, lobbing hand grenades, and charging with the bayonet, he cleared the post of all intruders! His platoon in the attack consisted of Rifleman Chunni Lal, Laxman Das, Om Raj and Rifleman Kashmir Chand. For displaying most conspicuous gallantry and leadership under most adverse conditions, Naib Subedar Bana Singh won Param Vir Chakra!

During the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon & his colleagues fought successive waves of intruding Pakistani aircrafts with valour and determination, maintaining the high reputation of the Gnat aircraft. On 14 December 1971, he alone engaged and fought with 2 attacking Sabre aircrafts. He succeeded in destroying both aircrafts and eventually fell a martyr against enemy numbers. He was honoured with Param Vir Chakra and his story inspires the generations of Air Warriors to come!
These are the immortal stories of courage and audacity, depicting how brave our defense forces are!
